Muscat: Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, the Foreign Minister, met his Iranian counterpart, Dr Abbas Araghchi, on Sunday.
"Good discussion on the Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s Foreign Minister Dr. Araghchi. We recognize our shared responsibility to the international community and the urgent humanitarian need to free the seafarers who have been held for far too long. Much diplomacy is required, and practical solutions to ensure lasting freedom of navigation," Sayyid Badr said.
Araghchi also mentioned important discussions on bilateral matters and regional developments. "As for the Hormuz coastal zone, our focus included ways to ensure safe transit that is to the benefit of all dear neighbors and the world. "
According to reports, both sides, as coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz, agreed to continue expert-level consultations to ensure safe transit and protect shared interests in the waterway.
Iran, through Pakistani mediators, gave the U.S. a new proposal on reopening the Strait of Hormuz and ending the war, with nuclear negotiations postponed for a later stage, Axios reported on Sunday, citing a U.S. official and two sources with knowledge of the matter.
